Motor Year
« on: January 27, 2010, 02:34:39 AM »
I have an 86-88 KX500 motor that I am trying to figure out the exact year on. The motor number is KX500B100-4914. At first I thought it was not an 86 because a newer style boysen intake bolts up. Boysen lists 87-04 KX500 years for their intake. But kawasaki parts diagrams show 86 and 87 intakes and gaskets having the same part numbers. 86 & 87 appear to have the same port layout with 88 as its own design and then 89 and up according to la sleeve. I have not been able to find a motor number database anywhere. Thanks for the help ahead of time!

Thanks Stewart! Is there a public database that you use or do just know from your motor experience?

clymer manual lists frame and lump numbers against there year of manafacture.HTH.
And lo, I did loft the front wheel and carried it forth to the unbelievers, and cast it down before them and said unto them ''look now upon the might of my throttle control ye pitiful cretinous ones''
And the unbelievers did quake in their boots....
