I have a slightly built 92 KX500. I have been on this bike for ~8years. This week I purchased a 2000 KX250 for fun on the tight and technical stuff. It needed a new top end, so I did this, and broke it in.
Went for a ride with my buddies and found that the bike is fast on the top end, but has very little low and some mid power.
I don't have much to compare it to, since most of my time is spent on the 500. In riding the 500, I can run a gear high, and just power out of the corners. The 250 has to have a lot more rpm to fly out of the corners. It does fly out, but just requires a lot more effort.
Even just starting out. I can just idle in first gear to get going on the 500, but the 250 seems like I need to wrap it out.
Is this your experience owning both the 500 and 250? I guess I didn't expect the 250 to feel this under powered.
Thanks,
Darin
