From a CR 250 to a KX 250 what to expect

  Hello Everyone,
I have crossed over from the dark side and bought a 1994 KX 250. I previously owned the same  year CR 250. Haven't had much of  chance to ride the KX yet with 2 feet of snow on the ground but the one time I did (right before the snow started falling) it was a front wheel lifting experience. I don't remember the CR having that much torque. It's in the garage now, in pieces, getting ready for spring. Short list of repairs include: swing arm, linkage, and shock bearings, fork seals, f&r brakes, chain guides, clutch cable ... this thing is getting expensive already but I guess if you wanna play, you know the rest.

 Welcome Mike,
 Sounds like you know what to look for as far as the usual suspects (bearings and such).  I thought we were finnished with the snow out here and low and behold another 8"....
   Spring is just around the corner...Hang in there!

Welcome to the site. Lots of great people and tons of information.

I've owned both Honda and Kawasaki 4 strokes and 2 smokers. The Kawasaki torque and power doesn't compare to any other major brand. Suspension should be set up for the type of riding you do most and for your weight and it will ride great as with any bike. The powerband is basically on or off which is why I like Kawasaki. I enjoy pulling a wheelie in any gear at any time. Power you don't need but is nice to have when you do. Hope you enjoy your new ride.
It's hard to keep a drivers license riding a 2 stroke dirt bike on the street.  If you drive within the law they are VERY boring.
