Take a look at this case
« on: January 03, 2010, 04:15:47 AM »
I split the cases on my recently purchased 90 K5 and found this crack. You can't see any crack from the outside just a small impact mark (rock?).Planning on taking it to a good tig welder next week and have him look at it. What do you guys think?
Sorry for the lousy pics.

What is at the 10 to 11 O'clock position on the case?
If some is good, and more is better, then too much is JUST RIGHT!  B.O.

Or more likely someone dropped a piston pin circlip down in the case, and just put the engine back together...

That's an easy fix. Caution your welder that sink (A low spot caused by the metal cooling and shrinking) is unacceptable on the sealing surface. It'll be as good as new.

Thanks Larry
That is good news. No sink.
