Internet Buying Tips

Thought I would start a thread about parts places on the Internet.  Since OEM parts can be "kind of" expensive, I look around a bit to see if I can get it any cheaper.  Don't get me wrong, I support my local dealer, but sometimes th wallet doesn't.

Anway, with the total rebuild of my '93 K5 happening this winter, I a few months gathering parts I thought I would need.  Of all that I bought, these items have come in the most handy and have saved me a couple of hundred bucks!   and suprisingly, I got them off eBay:

Engine Oil Seal Kit.  This has a boat-load of seals, including 2 of the seals behind the countershaft spocket.  Good deal.

Athena Gasket Kit.  This rocks.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  There is way more gaskets and o-rings in the kit than is shown.  Even had the o-rings for the powervalve guides!  If it comes it again (which it does frequently), I recommend you get it

No link for this one, but 220 piece fastener kit.  The good one comes with the case and some anti-seize lube.  the crappy ones don't.  I paid $30 for mine and most of the bolts are grade 10+ (some are 8.8). Watch for that one and get it.

I also frequently buy parts from these places on the Net.

Good selection, great customer service and excellent prices. A+

excellent selection, crappy customer service and prices are too high, but Rocky doesn't carry UFO :(

So, care to share where you order your parts/accessories/gear from?

You covered mine except for www.motosport.com has free shipping over a $100.00 order and no tax.Denis Kirk has treated me well, had a spark plug missing on a order and a small hole in the shipped box, gave them a call and they sent another one fast. But you have to shop in there catalog, there are some deals in there, but some of its a little high as you said, but they carry a lot of prouducts.

How about a forum or section devoted to suppliers.  Good topic.  Several places I've used with great success are...

http://shop.thumpertalk.com/
They have lots of parts but I've mainly used them for Keihin carb parts and cheap prices on No-Toil filters and oil.

http://www.honda-Kawasaki.com
Cheapest place I've found for OEM parts.  They have good customer service but slower than average shipping since the part has to come them and then be shipped out.

http://www.ronayers.com
Another OEM supplier but usually not as cheap as Treasure Coast.  I've never used them.

https://www.midwestactioncycle.com
Good supply of OEM and aftermarket stuff.  They list our cylinder at 399 and I can't say I've found it cheaper anywhere else.

There's also a guy on ebay that regularly sells bearings.  He can get all of our bearings at super cheap prices.  I'll see if I can find the guys address.[/url]
