heres the deal i have a 1987 kx500 that runs like its brand new starts on the 1st kick and has never let me down never!!! bike runs like a raped ape!!! heres the bad thats stressing me out like crazy when i bought the bike it had a small oil leak from the shifter shaft. I drilled it out and put a new seal in that leaked even more so i drilled it out again roughing up the case very slightly and it even leaks more now!!!!!!! it drops like a drop every 10 seconds but its soo stressful because im a perfectionist when it come to my toys and i dont have the heart or skill to split the case and buy a new half of the case my bike runs perfect why would i do that please consult me thank you guys!!!

Can you tell if it's leaking from the Inside or outside of the seal. With a leak that fast you should be able to brake clean it and watch.   If it's the outside seal serface. Some yamabond when you press her in should fix any imperfections.  And lube the snot out of the inside so you don't roll the seal surface on the way in

its leaking from the outside of the seal whats yamabond??? i think i will damage the case even more taking it out again!!!! lol

any tips on removing it without drilling it and damaging the case further??? for god sake i even took two teeth from the shifter shaft down with me lol

Also make sure that it is not the countershaft leaking onto the shift shaft.  I had a recent experience with just that on a KTM.  After relplaceing the CS seal (which didn't fix the leak) and then the shiftshaft seal (which didn't fix the leak) it turned out to the the hydr. clutch slave cyl leaking.  It pays to look closely and not assume (which I didn't). i ran down to my local dealership got a new oil seal and some yamabond 4 im keeping my figers crossed im 100% sure its coming from the oil seal thanks for the link it made the job easier

d**n I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH I RODE IT FOR 30 MINUTES ND NO LEAKS IM SOO HAPPY HOW LONG WILL THE YAMABOND HOLD???

Yamabond will hold for a reaaaaly long time. Thats the goo to put case halves together without gaskets. Im glad you got it remedied...Sandman

its not leaking at all its a great feeling the bikes leaked oil since the day i got it over a year ago

Glad it worked must have been some sort of imperfection in the case.

the case before it never had been drilled leaked!!! then i drilled it out and made it imperfect still leaked!!! now after the yamabond no leaks its a good feeling i have changed it soo many times i made a lot of un wanted imperfections but now its cool i will wash it up and post pics tommorrow afternoon
