should of held on!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: September 20, 2009, 01:40:59 PM »
well guys wreck my k5 today. after having some carb problems i changed them whole assembly. and didnt run the throttle cable correctly. well i took it for a ride got to the intersection down the road and turned around. when i straightened back out the cable caught a triple tree bolt and whamo wide open in first gear!!! well i got some sweet air time then rolled down the road. i got the normal road rash pretty bad. i also found out that when your bike revs way out it wont shut off :-o. the bike suffered a ripped off right side cover and, it ripped off and bent my full fmf gold series. the best part is ive only had this out 2-3 hrs after a full resto. not a good day at all.

boy o boy ,that s a sad story  :-(

i learned @ age of 13 ,
when i smashed my 81 yz125 into the ground it got stuck WOT in 4th gear
i didn,t think twice and pulled the plugcap @11000 rpm ..
huge voltages like 50.000 volts went thru my arm ,it was very painfull ,but saved my yz125

  Yikes!
Hope you are able to heal up quickly.
There are quite a few of us that have had some sort of throttle stuck at one time or another.
I can tell you it was a very "Humbling" experience for Me!!

sorry to hear this.  one thing I learned to do with a stuck throttle is if the kill doesnt shut it down pull the choke on.  (helps shut it down, although you can only do this sitting still)  wouldnt want to try this one handed, pinned    :-o

Sorry about the road rash and smashed pipe.  Hope you heal real quick. I still have the tire tracks on my riding pants from my own rear tire running over me after a WOT get off that did not go very well.
You will probably for the rest of your life, check , double check cable routing.
