Hey all..I am in the market for some new boots this year (first in many moons) and am wondering what you all use and like.  I am really leaning towards the Sidi Vortex because I heard great things about them (comfort, ease of breaking, longevity, etc), but am also interested in the Forma Pro's and Tech series.

My kid just picked up a pair of Forma Pros, but they took too good to wear to the track :D   Maybe around the house.  Weird thing is that Fox seems to make their stuff small.  He had to get a size 13 when he normally wears a 12.  The 12's were way too small.  They seem to do that in their Helmets too.  He got a new Pro Pilot for X-Mas and it was two sizes too small as well.

Any help would be appricated.

I hear the Forma's are the best non bootie boot for the price range. The Tech boots seem to either be the best boot you had or they fall a part(but Alpiestars has THE best custmer service,so you cant go wrong-they stand behind there prouduct) and the white boots have little cooling vents.Sidi's are a good boot to,so I dont think you"ll regret any one of these boots, just my 2 cents.

I've been wearing Fox's "Cheap" boots (Trackers) for trail riding and I'm amazed at well they work.

I have a different Philosophy than most. I don't keep boots for very long nowadays. Usually 1 to 1 1/2 years at most. I've learned an important lesson...Boots aren't suppose to be "Soft and Supple". They're protection. Period. They, obviously, need to be comfortable; HOWEVER, they're supposed to be protecting your feet and ankles.

When they start to "SoftenUp" and get floppy...they're GONE!

I wear Formas for the Track/Racing (It's a Bubba Thing!) and Trackers for the Trail/Desert. The Trackers have a great sole/tread for those slimmey trail conditions. At the races/track I DON'T want that traction when I put my foot out for the turns; Hence, the "One-Way" tread/sole on the Formas.

If you ride A LOT...2 pairs of boots are better AND cheaper than 1. ALWAYS let your boots air out until THEY ARE DRY. It's healthier for your feet and your boots will last longer.

Good luck,

Manny

You know what I hate?

That cheap-ass Red Paint smears all over my new boots!

I hate that!

thanks for the input!  I think I am going to order a pair of Forma Pros from Rocky.  $197 is not a bad price.  I'll keep my crappy Oneals around for practice and such.  Actually, now that I think of it, I'll chuck the Oneals.  They are so floppy that it's probably an injury waiting to happen.
