« on: August 05, 2009, 06:27:40 PM »
ok other problem, when crusing the road at low rpm it cuts out and misses alittle. you have to give it at least half throttle before it straightens out. but then better be holding on!!!!!!

sounds like a normal 2-stroke just needing a clear-out of excess oil

hmm,it sounds like jetting is off ,maybe clogged ,airfilter clean?
what jets you run in the carb ,which altitude you,re at
maybe floatheight too high ,and maybe petcock filter clogged.
also kips not overrotating ? it obstructs exhaustflow at low rpm

it should take off like a missile with a twist of the wrist, not like yours does,
i had once issues like you ,i downsized the pilotjet one size 60>58
that solved my issue ,did yours smoke too when it was cutting out on you?

Mine ran just like that when I got it. It was too rich. I adjusted the needle/clip and and then fine tuned with the air screw, now it runs perfect.

Go to KX500 General Specs / Tuning Tips then click on KX jetting 2003. It explains what adjustments affect what part of the throttle. That's what I did. Good luck!
