Muffler question...
« on: September 14, 2009, 06:35:39 AM »
Hey folk's.

I'm going to repack a muffler. I would like to make it a bit quiter.

Question: Do you pack it loose or tight to make it quiter??

Thanks Kurt

As tight as possible without being too tight. If you buy packing material from FMF or PC you should put everything in. I would recommend also sealing your muffler end cap with high heat resistant silicone.

While watching the FMF tech repack a muffler at Budds Creek I watched him and learned a trick. After wrapping the material around the muffler core tube he wrapped the packing with food wrap.....think Reynolds wrap.....it keeps the packing good and tight for installing into the muffler housing.
