Early KX
« on: July 08, 2009, 10:43:40 AM »
I have been looking for yrs for another 74 75 76 KX250 to restore. Finally I found one under a pile of junk (probably should have left it there)
How can I tell what yr it is I know that it is either a 74 75 76 but its in pretty bad shape so I cant tell by the fenders and such.
The vin# is K2-909613   every decoder wants 17 numbers.

The 74 KX250 didnt use a reed valve, 75 did. In 76, the tank was painted a metallic green with a staggered stripe. Im restoring a 75 KX250.
A couple of 03 and 04 KXs, a few YZs, 3 PE 400s, a DR and a TS.

Is the reed valve like our 500s or was it under the cyl. I haven't taken this one apart yet.
There isn't anoof left of the tank to tell the color.
I had a 75 and a 76 that I sold in the mid 80s and went all through them but my memory left shortly there after.
Do you have a good source of parts? Are there any parts available from the dealer?
