exhaust valve and governer rod removal
« on: May 24, 2009, 09:58:31 AM »
When i describe the following parts i am going of a schmatic found at bike bandit so i get all the correct part names and part numbers: http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/kawasaki-motorcycle-kx500-kx500e6-us-1994-cylinder-head-cylinder/o/m3871sch53655

1) When i was replacing my top end on my 1994 kx500 i noticed the part number 12005B(exhaust center valve) was very black and i wanted to clean it but couldnt figure out how it comes out of the cylyder.  What is procedure?  I see the 12023(center holder valve) bracket just pivots and mine does flop up and down but how do you get this part removed?  Cyclemer manual just says remove and clean but desnt say how

2) I also wanted to take the long rod out 49046 (governer rod) so i could get the exhaust gears out but after removing the 92066 plug bolts the rod would budge.  I was afraid to tap it to hard so i bolted everything back up and when riding it really has to build up to kick in the power.  the governer rod must be seized.  Before i take the cylinder in to have mechanic remove is this something i can remove by tapping harder then i wanted to?  My clymer manual says to "push it as far as it goes and the gears will drop out".  the gears dont drop out because rod barely moves.

Okey,short version..
Pull up and away 49002 and (A).
Lift 12005 and (A)  up a bit and remove rod 49046 after removing circlips, wheel and soo.
Turn them approx 180* and lift them again and they come loose.
Then unscrew bolts 132 and then whole centervalve is loose.
