Chain Problem
« on: May 16, 2009, 03:04:14 PM »
For some reason when im riding, the chain mysteriously gets tighter for no apparent reason. I dont know why. Maybe the chain is cheap or something but that doesnt explain why it get tighter.  Any help is appreciated.

I would susoect that your axle is sliding backwards. Chains can tighten but only if they get really hot, which just doen's happen on a dirt bike. I have encountered chains that stretched in one section only, making the chain appear too loose or too tight depending on if the stretched part was on the rear sprocket or not. cam.

I have seen chains that have not been maintained get so many tight spots and kinks that they would tighten up when the bike was ridden.
