5in rim with a 160/60/17. Right now the chain hits the tire. I am going to try a non o-ring or maybe shave the tire a little.

You should try changing the wheel offset. You can move the wheel over by loosening the spokes on the sprocket side and tightening the spokes on the rotor side. You can move the rim to hub offset a bunch by doing this. You go around the wheel once and loosen all the spokes on the sprocket side 1/4 turn and then go around the wheel once again and tighten the spokes on the rotor side 1/4 turn. Start and stop in the same spot every time and make sure you keep everything equil. Repeat this until you get the desired wheel offset.

Yeah I have seen people do that but in my case I just can't =). I am going to try a chain slider and maybe a non o-ring chain there 2mm thinner.

 wonder if you could rig up offset sprockets. You could run a spacer between the rear sprocket and the hub and maybe machine the front sprocket to make it thiner in the middle and then put a spacer behind it.You may even be able to buy them, these ones are made by talon and they look like they might work on a kx500. Then all you would need is a sweet spacer for the back sprocket.

I shaved both sides of the tire, offest the spacers,shimed out the rear sprocket. and reassembiled te lower chain guide diffrently to hold the chain away from the tire. Also made a slider. I just installed the kx250 rear fender also.

If the chain just clears the tyre when the bikes not running it's pretty sure to catch it when the bikes on the move.

Mine clears it when stationary but still fouls it a bit when on the move.

I have installed a custom made chain slider on top and bottom that will not let the chain move inward into the tire.

I saw your post on SMJ. This thing is going to be a killer. If there is a market for them.....I can have the chain sliders made that keep the chain off of the wheel......something like this.
