09 KX450f recall (throttle body)
« on: April 15, 2009, 06:00:31 AM »
any of you with an 09 kx 450 need to check your throttle bodies, there is a lot number on the left side, the eligible lot numbers are:

0140AZFW
0140AZFX
0140AZFY
0140AZFZ

the lip on the back side of the spigot can break off and end up in the motor, mine was one of the recalled units, when I removed the rubber boot from the air box, part of the throttle body stayed in the air boot. It only took about a week to get the new one and I think it was the early production units that had these, mine was the only one my dealer had that needed the update.

Thanks for the "heads up" on the recall.  The day I bought my KXF450R quad I was standing next to it when the parts guy walked by.
I told him I was buying it and he said "You won't be able to leave with it because there is a recall on them".  I thought he was joking with me like he always does.  A minute later the sales guy comes out and says the same thing.  They next day aired a tank in and I was able to pick it up the next day.

I was at my local Kaw dealer today and he flat out refused to admit there was a recall.  Sigh....One of the main reasons I don't have any green in the garage.... Cam.

He must be living in a Cave, I just threw the paperwork away or I'd have scanned it so he could get upto date. In the age of the internet you can't hide anything, when I talk to my dealer, he's like how did you find out about that already, I just heard.
