Broken Bolt!?!?!?!
« on: April 06, 2009, 01:34:28 PM »
I replaced my fork seals over the weekend, and when I was putting my front tire back on I noticed that one of the 4 studs that hold the axle cover on was broken about half way down.  Is there any way to replace them?

Stock,
They are just threaded inserts.  Hopefully there is enough shaft left to get some vice grips on.  Use some torch heat to help loosen it.  Cam.

Stock,
For that one I would suggest you buy a KX one or an other manufacturer for the kayaba forks (I think they are all the same).  The stud is of very good grade steel, far above what you may find at a hardware store. Cam.

My best luck with metric nuts and bolts has been Lowes. Great selection and 1/3 the price of the bike shops.
