UPDATE: May recover my KX5...
« on: November 28, 2003, 12:49:45 AM »
This is what I am getting...

The guy that had it stolen collected on the insurance...

The cops said that the insurance companies "sign off" on dirt bikes and such 75% of the time. He said if they sign off...I will have a "right" (given by the DA that he already spoke to) to the bike. This is because I did the right thing by turning it in, and because I did actually buy it not knowing it was stolen.

He said it will take months...these things do...

Keeping my fingers crossed...

On another note: The guy that sold it to me has not been arrested yet...because I have to drive from the top of NY to SC to sign a warrant for his arrest. That is BS! That trip costs me about 500. And there is no way in hell that you will get me in a airplane! I do plan on making the trip after the holidays sometime. I HATE those SC Sherrifs!

Woot, good luck on reclaiming the beast. If that drive leads to an arrest then it would be worth it to me. Thieves should be locked in a cell with a very large, overly endowed "partner" who'll make it sure it's dry and often ;)

I hate thieves

Hulkster, you might ask if you can sign the arrest warrant in New York, witnessed by a local deputy, or maybe even just notarized.  Either way should work, as the SC folks will have comfort that you actually signed the warrant.

Hopefully the end result of this will be the return of big green to your stable.

Hey.... at least you might get the bike back.  And you've got an excuse for a weekend vacation to SC.

Well....I might be going to SC sooner than I expected....this coming week! And it won't cost me a penny. My friend has to drive his brother down and I'm most likely going for the ride. :) That means maybe this jerk will spend Christmas in JAIL....hehehehe

Hulkster,

You might be able to fly to S.C. for real cheap on JetBlue or try United's web-site under "Specials".

Get those A$$HO's!

Still in impound....waiting for insurance company to sign off hopefully.

Now they say I gotta goto Georgia to make Civil Suit against the jerk to get my money back. I don't really care as long as I get bike back. But hey....some cash for all the BS I put up with and all the travel I did wouldn't hurt either.

I'll update next month unless something pops up.
