I think Max Power puts a little more to the process on the plating than others. They have a good write-up on their process. Good plater will let you ride for years without any hassle. They have prices posted on their web site and they stand by them. It took just 2 weeks to get my engine back for my 250.
I used a cooler to ship it. Pack with paper and no crate or worrying about your motor getting bounced around by the Fed ex Soccer team.
I've heard about coating pistons, would that be worth it?

Neither are stock, and both are great desert bikes.

I have sent many to US Chrome and Power Seal with great results from both.  If you're on the east coast Power Seal is a great option, as I dont know anyone with a quicker turnaround.
America is all about speed. Hot, nasty, bad-ass speed.

martin we are both in the same boat lol. I just picked up a 95 and it had a slow coolent leak. So I ripped the cylinder off and order the weisco mod piston. My stock piston and cylinder are in perfect shape.   Good luck

You lucky...

Thats cool, we can compare notes. I chose Millenium  for the replate. Off to them today.

I'm stoked to see how she runs with the window piston, V force 2 reed block, the porting (from the instructions here), KIPS mod, and with set up squish...

Any estimate on power for that at 2000ft? And how much could be lost near 4800FT?

I went through and found a ton of casting flaws in the ports. Some as thick as an 1/8"! I cant see how subtle changes like that wont help.
