Got my jug off today...
« on: March 11, 2009, 06:34:46 AM »
Just ordered a window mod piston, cometic gaskets and V2 reed block from stewart today. So I pulled my top end apart and the top of the piston looked almost new, just a little carbon. Now for the cylinder pics. Tell me what you think, please.

Below the exhaust port, there are some very, very tiny little pits. Around the top of the two smaller intake ports, there is a very small section where I see bare alu.

As long as there is no flaking at the port edges and no deep scratches it should be good.  It's hard to tell from your pics, need a bit more focus or a macro setting. You will be very happy with the windowed piston with the V2. Cam.

*** we posted at the same time.  You might want to take some good pics of ths spots you are in question and re-post them.

I can feel some extremely light scratches on the bore below the exhaust port. No bare alu. anywhere on the bore.

I'm unsure of my camera. I'll take a couple piston pics.

Just answered my own question I think. A spot the size of a pocket screw driver blade above the exhaust port shows flaking.

SOOOO.... What to do? Re-coat? Sleeve? Whats better, cheaper.. Sources?

What if I ran it on the new piston?? Things are tight, so I have to be careful, but I dont want to put together a grenade either.

Thanks so much fellas!

Eric gorr's forward motion [he used to own Max Power] or just send it to US Chrome your self , thats where both of them would send it to anyway.  Do Not send it to Langcourt I had them do one and only one had to hella-coil most of the thread in the cylinder. I've also heard good things about Millenium.
Yep, you can ride it - if YOU can start it !!

I got a good quote from Millenium today. 189 for replate. Theres no cracks or serious gouges, so I think that'd be all.

I think you are making a wise decision on the replate.  Run some good oil and you will have a nice bike that will last a long time. Cam.

Like Super M? Just switched to it, from Maxima Castor.

You are right, I figure its lasted 9 years and the wear is kinda minimal.. So a good o/h and good oil will at least last as long.
