In the past I have always got my motorcycle bearings (KX500 included) from my local bearing supply store at 1/4 the price. The bearings were always a metric/standard size cross-over, meaning a standard bearing given an odd-metric dimention. I have noticed on my new bikes that the bearings are now fully metric sized (ie 51mmx30mmx15mm etc) and do not have a "std" size. The downside is that local bearing supply stores do not carry these or have them in their catalogs. The only suppliers available are the stealer or the "All-balls racing" kits. Not good. For my 450 steering head bearing I had a choice of $41 for one quality oem bearing & seal or $42 for the lesser quality all-balls kit (2 bearings and 2 seals). Being its only a steering head I wimped out for the cheaper low quailty ones. If it was for any engine service I would not have considered using the cheap one. Cam.
