2000 KX 250 modifications
« on: February 20, 2009, 10:34:25 PM »
I recently purchased a 2000 KX 250 for tight woods riding. I would like to make some modifications to this beast to make it more suitable for this type riding. It came with a FMF fatty exhaust. I'm thinking about adding a flywheel weight and possibly going up 2-3 teeth on the rear sprocket. I know the flywheel weight will help, but what about the larger sprocket? Will it help slow it down or just make it harder to keep the front wheel on the ground? Thanks for any experience with this or advice you may have.

Tight woods trails? Sounds fun. 13-47, maybe 13-49, I know alot of guys run taller gears, but that's my gearing unless its open sand on my 250. It doesn't really make it ride wheelies more, just shortens powerband that seems to slow it down. It will actually make it faster, by giving you power in the lower speeds and from turns that you are doing the most. I don't have a flywheel weight. Gearing down helps to keep the bike from stalling also.
