wow, I am looking for my son a "new to us" bike, been looking for a while and ran across a 03 KX85 on craigslist, add said $1000, well thats in our range, lets take a look, the bike, while not new looking in the pic(wasnt expecting it to be), was still ok. inside the add said buy by the end of weekend Ill take 800, wow even better I thought. so I called, do you still have it? yes. Alright!! were in!! now im about 2.5-3 hrs away from this guy one way. so I go the next day get some $$$ from the atm and he calls, Im at the atm getting cash now fixing to head your way, ill be there in 3 hrs or so. i tell him. thats fine he said. well 3 hrs later I pull up to the house and the bike is sitting out front, the grphx are coming off, the rims are dented, plastics are cracked, no brake pads on it, cheezy stickers all, I mean ALL over the fenders, the clutch perch was Black taped on with a crazy looking way too long clutch cable, the front brake lever was broke, in disbelief I stood there looking at it, he says Ill take $700. take it for a ride he said, I got on it, it took a while to clean out and then it felt like(to me) the clutch was slipping in 3rd-gear on up. wow I rode it back pulled down to the house, he could tell I was disapointed he went to $650. I figured I could spend 200-300 and get it to useable cond. still be in there for 850-950, I wasnt sure about the clutch so I was going to take it up the road and back 1 more time, just to check it out. as I rolled the bike back the back brake caliper went chink, chink, chink, hell the nut on the back rim was loose enough to turn it with your fingers, and he let me ride it that way. so the bike that started at $1000 on the internet and in great shape on the phone was now at $650
and a peice of $%^* I said I believe Ill just keep looking. and left...
