black plastic

hey guy ok i found a set of black plastic for my k5 but there very pricey can you paint dirtbike plastic?

I've seen spray paint that is formulated for plastic but have not used it. Saw the paint at Home Depot, I think it was Rustoleum.

The paint doesn't work worth a crap. I purchased that stuff years ago for my YZ's tank and it chipped right off, this is after following the instructions to a T.

According to this website it's all about prepping the plastic correctly.

I have used Rust-Oleum plastic paint from Home Depot with great sucess. The key is to use the white plastic primer before the finish coat. This greatly improves the adession and durability. This paint has held up very well on each bike I used it on. You can even twist and bend the fenders and it wont crack. The new paints have come a long way.

Even on the tanks? I remember hearing that the tanks posed a problem because of the fuel vapors that seep through the plastic. Thats why they perforate tank graphics.

Yes, I have used it on the tanks of my sons blaster, my trx250r and the FAT PADDLE . I use the hammered texture paint it covers old scratches better and gives it a cool look, seems to be more durable also. Its been on the trx and blaster for over a year with no problems or color change. Like I said using the primer first is a must. I first used it on some plastic without the primer and it didnt hold up as well.
