Hello from Chandler, AZ
« on: January 21, 2009, 02:49:47 PM »
Hello,

My name is Maurice Walker and I stay in hot chandler Arizona. I recently acquired a 2001 KX 500. I also have sitting in my storage a 82 YZ 490. Prior to that I rode a 98 RM 250 and before that 86 YZ 490 so I?m not a newb to the big bores.. I must say however that I love my KX.. She?s an awesome machine. I do however need a Gas tank for her as she leaks all over my leg.  :? She?s come a long way since sitting the last 2 years in someone?s back yard and she?s almost ready to hit the dunes. I cannot wait to see how she performs with a 10 pusher in the sand.  :-D I am looking for a natural desert tank, if any of you have one that you are looking to part with for a reasonable price please let me know because I much prefer them over the stock green things on eBay.

Thank you,

Maurice.

Welcome sir, from a fellow newb!

As far as I can tell, this is the best site around for KX5 info. Great bunch of knowledgeable KX riders.

2005 XR650L

Neither are stock, and both are great desert bikes.

Yes very true from what i've seen.. plenty of useful information here. Prior to being a kxrider.com member I was googling everything about my k5 until I reached the end of the internet.. and then i found kxriders.

Welcome to the site, much great information here.  When I wanted a large tank for extended rides, I found an IMS tank, but I didnt want the natural color, I thought it didnt match the color scheme. After using the "clear" tank and seeing how easy to tell how much fuel is in the tank, even while riding, I would not consider any other color.
  Enjoy your 500 !

Sorry we didn't hook up this weekend. We had a blast! It was my first time to the dunes with a two wheeler. I grew up on quads out there and I must say, this was quite a different experience. There was hardly anybody there so it was a perfect time to be out there and not an ounce of wind! Maybe I'll catch you guys out there another time.
