« on: January 15, 2009, 05:48:36 AM »
I am looking to get some street wheels for my KX500.  Does anyone have any experience with making the bike supermoto for the winter?  I am new so please go easy on me if I missed this topic in my searches.  Thanks for the help.

Look in the Supermoto section(or is that limited??).
Some people use cast wheels, I not a fan of that.
Not that I have a Supermoto.(not jet)
But for street use only it would be oke. And for winter riding a Sumo :? :? :?

CBR600 wheels are super cheap on ebay.  Largest availability of any type and hence the cheapest.  Be nice to match the axle size then the spacers are easy to build. I haven't done this but was researching awhile ago to make a supermoto street bike.  Cam.

Wow, thanks fellas.  I will look around for some wheels.  And thanks for the welcome.  I will look forward to being on here quite a bit.  I am really looking forward to riding the k5 more.  Only been on it 2x at the local motocross track and it scared the pants off me.  In other words it was GREAT :-D

if you have a bearing house you can tell them the outside dia. of the wheel bearing is and the axle dia. is and see what bearings are avaliable . if the wheel will accept the kx 500 axle dia. having the spacers made will be easy if you know a machinist
race gas is fast but Q16 hauls azz.i still ride because i am not ready to have been that fast. i ride a kx500 because they don't make a kx600!ck k5abuser on youtube

The axel dia and bearing isn't realy an probleme. Only how wide the wheels are,
and how much the distance is of the brake disk and rear sprocket.
Try to make some pic's tomarrow how I made a suzuki wheel fit to a kawasaki!

I would love to see the pictures.  The ones above are great.  If I have to go the other way of lacing spokes and rims to stock hubs, how can I find out what other years and models of KXs have the same hub as my '91 K5.
Thanks again fellas
