Hello, Got an 87 KX500. Had to have some welding done to the case halves due to an accident. After having it repaired I sharpied the mating case surfaces and lapped them until they were flat and no gaps. I don't think it took off more than a couple thousands but am now concerned about side load on crankshaft bearings when reassembling. Anyone know the factory dimension and tolerance on the distance between the seating surfaces of the bearing journals when case halves are mated together? I'm a tool and die maker and made a tool that I use to measure this and can compare if anyone can provide this info. If I took too much off I just plan to make a gasket as I have in past 2 stroke bikes but need to know how thick to make it. Reason Im needing to know the factory joutnslseat to journsl seat spec.Or as I'm looking it appears that the halves of the crank are not tapered..I measured...therefore the bearings could potentially seat all the way against the crank weights which means Kawasaki made the adjustment of bearing distance greater than what the case halves allow in assemble...the reason to center using a crank puller? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
