New KX 250 Rider
« on: October 23, 2008, 05:48:04 PM »
My name is Chad I live In Casa Grande, AZ. I am new to riding a kx, I just traded my YZ426 for a 1998 kx250. I really enjoy doing the maintenence as much as I can on my own bikes so that's what I like about sites like this to get help from fellow riders. I am looking to start doing the desert races here in AZ. I did a couple on the YZ 426 but it was just to big and heavy for me. so far I really enjoy the 250. So if there any sugesstions to make a 1998 250 a good desert racer let me here it.

Welcome to the site Chad. Glad to hear you're riding greeen. I dont know a lot about riding desert, since Michigan dunes are not as large as Western desert. But a big tank and a big motor plus sand tires seem most obvious. There are guys on this site who have raced desert and will probably offer advice when they see this post.
Several guys on this site have put the 500 engine into the 250 frame have you thought about that ?

No I have not thought about putting a 500 motor in to the frame. I want to get better at riding the one I have now first then see where that leads. but thanks for the info
