coolant link fix
« on: September 29, 2008, 11:40:43 AM »
I had the strange misfortune to have a stick puncture the lower right radiator hose.  No one on planet earth has one in stock it seems. I want to ride this weekend.

What harm would be done if I spliced a section of copper tubing of the correct diameter into the hose to fix the hole?  Would any other type of pipe work better?

Is it on a kx500 ? if so why not run a piece of heater hose from the auto parts store. The lower kx500 hose is relatvely strait.

It's on my 250.  I'll order a new one but I want to ride this weekend.  The 250 hose has a pretty sharp 90* bend a the case.  I can't imagine that a piece of copper would screw things up.  But then I have no imagination.

You've got all kinds of imagination to think this up :-D Actually I've seen copper fittings used quite a bit on hybrid bikes and it works fine.
