My new 2001 KX500 I picked up
« on: August 27, 2008, 08:25:40 AM »
Hey there again everyone, in my intro I mentioned the 01' 500 I was looking at, well a day before we went back to school (yesterday) my buddy brought me up to go look at it, and I brought my money....just in case, but needless to say it was love at first sight the bike is almost brand new, there is maybe 4 hours on it, he drained all the fuel then ran the carb dry, then put it away for a little over 6 years now. He is moving to California to continue his business and needed to get rid of it FAST, I picked it up for $1800 and it came with 2 pairs of hand guards (one pair on it, the other pair has bark busters that he never installed) and a skid plate, he also gave me (but never got around to putting on) a pro circuit header and silencer a jetting kit a twin air filter and carbon fiber reeds then a 14 oz. Stealthy flywheel weight. The only thing wrong is there is a little bit of paint rubbed off the frame on both sides from boot rub, but what I'm going to do is put news paper up and tape it off, primer it, then spray paint it with some pj1 frame paint my buddy gave me, then i'm gonna throw frame guards on and you'll never know. But yeah I am very picky when it comes to the condition of my quads and stuff, and I geuss this one passed my inspection XD.  I'm going riding with my buddies this weekend, and I can't wait to try this thing on the trails, I'll let you guys know how it goes. Until then here's a few pictures I grabbed of it this afternoon when I got home from school, Thanks for the awesome forum you guys have here for the 500, I looked through every page finding out what to look out for when buying a 500 and what the "have to haves" are as far as after market parts are..and it seems I got everything I need already =P
