Tall Man Bars Finally Tall Enough!!!!
« on: July 18, 2008, 07:26:07 AM »
I finally found a set up that is great for me (6' 5'' tall).  I used a stack of washers under the bar mounts (a trick I learned from this website, I can't remember who though), then I got a set of Pro Taper Contour Atv High Bend bars which are 4 3/4'' tall.  I then got the adapter for the big bars that gives you an additional 3/4'' rise.  I can't beleive the improvment in the comfort when I am standing.  That has to be the best money I have spent on any of my bikes so far.  I am going to get some wide foot pegs next.  If any of you have wide pegs you like let me know.  Anyway I am sure there are several big guys on here that are looking for the right fit so I thought I would give my two bits worth.  I will post pictures soon.

It is the Stock Tank that was used for the 2004 model year.  It came with the bike.  I want to get the zip ty racing kit for it later though.

P.S.  It looks like your 500 would make a grown man cry.

I would say by looking at your setup that you would benifit from turning your risers around so that the offset was forward and then role your handlebars back to get the grip portion in a more comfortable position. when handlebars are adjusted to far forward the end of the grips start pointing towards the sky and your hand position feals funky.

Look into some aftermarket risers that use a bolt instead of a stud.  It looks like you're barely catching thread on those.

How long does it take you to change the rebound settings?  lol

I will try changing the offset (are you talking about the entire mount or just the big bar adapter/riser) and see how it feels.  As far as the rebound settings, I just take a screw driver and turn it.  It takes about 10 seconds.

P.S. Thanks for the tip BDI
