KX500 in '01 KX250 Frame
« on: February 14, 2008, 12:45:12 PM »
I just bought a 01 KX250 frame that's been modded already to accept a 500 motor!  It comes with an already fitted CR500 exhaust and all of the other fabbing needed to bolt in the 500.  All I need to do is fab a front head mount or cut of my mount and weld it onto the front on the head.  Does this absolutely need to be done or can I get by without a head stay?  Hopefully I can post some pics in a week or so!

Thanks for the pics!  I'll start working on mine this weekend.

By the way, does your spark plug clear the bottom of the tank or did you mold the tank up?

I haven't received the bike yet.  When it comes, I plan on getting everything together and ironed out and then primping it up to my tastes.

PS:  Does anybody have a Boyesen stator cover or know where I can buy a new one?  They seem to be discontinued :x

I'm getting it from an ice racer in MN.  I have a spare set of KX500 Radiators, Should I use them?  What to do with the plug?  Thanks for the insight!

The engine is installed!  All that is left is the small pieces, hopefully it will be together by midweek.  I can't wait for the weather to get better (3 more inches of snow today) so I can ride.

CR500 pipe.  It isn't the prettiest but it will do for now.  There were other posts but mine are the only that show up now.  I don't know why.

The CR500 pipe work quite well, or you can get a pipe from service Honda for the new KX500AF, they are priced about the same as a KX500 pipe from Pro Circuit or FMF. WE NEED PICTURES :-D

Yes, the bottoms barely touch the head.  I'm thinking of moving them forward about 1/8".  What have others done?

Those radiators will probably be ripped off under the g-forces or wind sheer.
