KX500 Spark plug Question??
« on: January 16, 2008, 12:22:08 PM »
Hey, do you'all run a BR9EG NJK plug? I've been having some trouble starting my bike lately. It seems like either I'm not getting enough spark or fuel (I just had the carb cleaned).

Thanks for info,

ngk is the best plug for the kx ......i did alot of plug testing.. a 8 heat range should only be consdered for a completly stock and used k5.. a 9 heat range for the thingasket or up to about .020 cut from head.. i run a 10 heat range with 15.5 compresion ..at optimal jetting...020 to .025 gap works well  .. and i have not been using the fine wire plug tips

buy a spark tester. if it can't jump a 1/4" gap then check your flywheel. i found a problem when i was on the dyno with one of my flywheels.

I run a br7es and 32:1 premix and have never had problems with unless i run leaded race gas at the dunes. When i stop when the engines warm it wont start, like its flooded. I turn the gas off and hold the throttle open fires right up. Gotta remeber to turn the gas back on though. Hope this helps
