I've finally found a 1981 Kx420. I'll keep you posted on the renovation project. :-)

Wow! That's in great condition! The plastic seems to be in pretty good shape as well, but if you're interested in new ,high quality reproduction stuff check out www.nightmare-racing.com . They make everything new except the tank. You can even get a proper round front # plate with or without the cable saver strap. :-D

The swingarms on those bikes are beautiful. Weren't they forged?

I never had the pleasure of riding a 420, but I do remember back in like 1983ish.... I remember riding in my local pit and hearing this ungodly loud deep bark..... and there off in the distance I see a green bike doing like 80 mph..... and that's what it was a KX420, holy shizzle what thet bike LOUD...... !!

You might want to gusset where the downtubes meet the engine cradle.  I broke my 1980 twice at that spot. Lots of other stuff broke too. Yikes. Cam.

My 1984 125 used to snap the frame under the seat like every other race.... it was so bad Kawasaki even sold a OEM weld-in "gusset kit" to stop the breakage.
