KX or KXF?
« on: September 22, 2007, 12:09:22 AM »
Which bike do you prefer?  Do you like the new four strokes or do you like the older two strokes?

That really sounds like a question that needs to be asked in the general section, unless you wanted a biased result from your poll by posting it in a section obviously devoted to two strokes. :? Kind of like going to a Camaro board and asking how many people like Mustangs.

I think the general consensus is that the four strokes are easier to manage than two strokes. Personally I would want one of each. I have a KX500 because I live in an area where there are miles of and miles of dirt roads and trails and like the wide open speed only a 500 can provide. If I was riding tight trails or tracks I would probably go for a KXF250. I already am finding parts harder to come by for the 500 even though it has been in production for 15 years essentially unchanged and has only been out of production for 4 years. But I think that is the way the offroad market is anyway. The manufacturers want you to buy the newest models. I would stick to what works for you and run with it.

I've been on a 2-smoker since the early 70's, and I don't see a reason to switch now...

I'm no fan of the KXF. I enjoy the occassional smoke and will always keep a 2 stroke or 2 on hand.

I think most would agree that they want a KXF for It's frame and the KX for It's power

Yep, I second that. I'll add that the 4-stroke is just too expensive to upgrade and to maintain. I've seen first hand that the 4-stroke is fast on about every riding condition, and has to be better at stopping, and over all handling, but the k5's brute force and raspy sound and reliable and economical power keeps it on top, in my opinion. Eventually, I think we all will be riding the 4 strokes, but not today!!!! 8-)

i hope not

i want the 2 stroke to survive ,
and i know it will .
in maybe better settings,
such as improved efficiency of fuel use
by using fuelinjected motors
and otherwise we need too make a machinemanufacturer crazy enough,
too build us a couple of thousand cylinder,s cranks piston  etc....
just for kx 500/cr 500 riders maintenance usage
if soon everything now in stock is sold
just thinking loud :|
