drag bike about done....for now
« on: July 13, 2007, 05:28:24 AM »
got my motor back from stewart today and got it in the bike. oil, gas, and coolant.... pulled the choke up, and started right up first kick! idled perfect and once it warmed up a bit i took it for a rip down my street. WOW!! is all i have to say. the bike ran fantastic and has more power than i could put to the ground. the motor sounds real smooth and hits hard all the way through the gears. i am going to put my paddle on it and get it to the dunes maybe next weekend. thanks again Sterwart for building me a great motor.

i included a pic of the rubber patch i had left on my street.  that was first to second gear while rolling with just twisting the throttle...about three houses long :-D

what did stewart do to your motor.

well where do i start...
pretty much tore the whole thing down till it couldn't be tore down anymore. went through the whole bottom end checking, checking, and re-checking everything to make sure that everything was spot on. that wasn't the initial plan but he wouldn't feel right if he wasn't certain that everything was very close to perfection. good thing he did because there were some things that needed to be corrected. his attention to detail is second to none. the list of things he did could go on and on... i'll try to sum it up.
brand new rod and fresh crank assembly, ported cylinder, machined the head and changed the angle of the dome, new wiseco piston with the scalped skirt and window cut, max power replated cylinder, lectron carb already dialed in on the dyno with my motor, barnett clutch kit, vforce reeds, procitcut pipe.... i'm sure that i forgot something maybe stewart will chime in. its just a real good setup, the motor runs and sounds great.

i wanted mg 82  to have a very reliable and fast moter combo that starts in one kick. idles great .has power from bottom to top....no big bore or stroker stuff here.. 86 by 86 mm just kx 500 at the best that i could come to ps he is a great guy to deal with  makes it easy on me to work with him ..two things i like to do in life is work around nice people and make kx 500 s faster  agot to do both here ,,,,,,stewart

Hey mg82, what kind of HP does your bike make? I'm thinking about having something similar done to mine, and was curious about the power output. By the way "NICE BIKE"!!!

that setup makes in the upper 90s  hp at crankshaft  dyno jet dyno says that there is 24 hp lose thru  drive trian and the piston port moter at 15 to 1 with  44 lectron etc on oxgenated gas in managable tune up around  75 hp at rear wheel  around 7200 rpm   depends on weather. humidty. bar .pressure  etc
