I'm workin' on some pointers... sorry for the delay. I'll finish and get it posted this weekend. I will say that this is a great bike to learn these on. I was surprised at how easy it was.

a couple shots from yesterday

New pavement was slippery, fun though.  new motor seems good and no issues.

Sorry I keep forgetting about this thread. But if you are already doing even short rolling stoppies then you are past any pointers I can give you. The only thing I can offer from that point is to try them on a downhill as it helps you keep momentum and keeps the bike rolling longer and not coming to a stop so quickly as on a flat surface.

I have a Sm question though... has anyone researched to see if any sport bike or super bike wheels are close to bolt on for a KX500?  I am considering an SM conversion for the street but I have to do it CHEAP.  Seems it will be a while before credit or finances will allow me to finance something ready for the street.

yes i,m kind of that far now ,my rolling stoppies are now going kinda scary,
since you have to increase speed big time for longer stoppies
and i dont wanna crash my beloved k5  :|

imo you could go like i did,
i got hubs from my spare mx-rims.
got sec. hand rims for 50 $ in usa dollars.
only thing left where the spokes to buy
these came for me in euro,s 75 for 36 spokes

so a total of about 300 euro i spend on getting the wheels done

So did you lace up your own wheels then?  I've never done it but I'm sure I could figure it out... just not sure about truing and stuff.  Thanks for the info.  I would rather have spokes than cast wheels anyways, I was just looking for the cheapest route. Although I do think some cast wheels look awesome on a dirtbike with the directional spokes but I dont want to have to worry about them cracking with impact either if I ever decided to go offroad in sumo trim.
