Unrepairable!
« on: July 02, 2007, 05:20:19 AM »
Well after waiting for 2 years, they finally took it apart and had a look then pronounced it unrepairable and put it back together. Unfortunately it wasn't my bike...It was my knee.  Oh Oh!!  More tylenol for riding I guess. Cam.

That's not good.      Which knee?  You need/should get a riding brace?  Thank goodness the KX5 has a cushy seat...  one of my favorite points of the bike.  Makes sitting down and taking a load off of the arms and knees a bit more comfy.

Take care of it and keep it iced up after activities. A ziplock with some ice cubes from the cooler on the drive home from riding in the truck is a great way to kill two birds with one stone.

Thats a shame. Its a bummer they couldn't decide that with an x ray or MRI. It must be pretty bad, for them not to be able to do anything. Maybe a second opinion is in order. I hate to hear about anyone who can't ride but wants to. Maybe we can bolt a k5 motor to one of those Hoverounds!!! :-D Jus kiddin', really I hope you get a second opinion and get it fixed.

Can you ride with a good knee brace like an Asterisk Cell Knee Brace? I couldn't ride at all if I didn't wear
them!

Alan,
Those asterix are nice, love to try on a pair but you don't see many in Canada.  I have a cool carbon fiber custom G-II brace for that side (R knee).  Binds a bit when kicking but other than that it seems good for riding.  It's some weird lateral tear in the lateral meniscus cartiledge that the MRI doesn't show well.  It's not really a hardship and doesn't hurt much when riding as long as I keep my legs strong.  More of an "awareness and confidence" thing that lurks iin the back of your mind when riding.  Like most of us I have lots of permanent "hurts" from too much racing.   Thats life - get on with it and get riding as my wife says. Cam.

Cam, sorry to hear about your knee.. Have you looked into specialists? I've heard of a few here in the states. I'm not sure how the healthcare system works up north. That really sucks to hear about that.

Is it your kickstarting knee?

Hey Cam,

I'd seriously consider contacting these people.

The Hughston Clinic
6262 Veterans Pkwy
Columbus GA  31904

706-494-3000

This clinic is the hub for Hughston Sports Medicine Foundation.  I've seen some incredible repairs/rehab over the years from their doctors.  Lots of pro athletes on their client list. At least you could have your test results/MRI mailed to them for an exam for a small fee.

Let us know how it turns out for ya
Walter
