KX 500 Lighting Coil
« on: May 25, 2007, 08:05:06 AM »
Anybody had the electrix 210 watt lighting coil go bad on them? I have one and it worked for about 30 minutes, then the flywheel cut through two of the three wires and the lights went out. Super bright 100 watt halogen when it worked...Anybody got a fix...? I installed per the instructiions. Came with nice billet coil side engine cover.

Do you mean the Eline one?
Not had one but I was asking about them a while ago and one of our members mentioned something about needing to shim it out to stop the flywheel damaging the wires.

I was asking about the Eline kit on THIS THREAD

I have the Eloctrosport ESL220 Coil.  I had to have the Stator Plate bosses machined down about 3mm. to gain clearance from the fly wheel.  I routed the primary wires behind the stator plate to keep them out of harms way.

Yep, it's the Eline. I'll post some pix. Sounds like I'm not the only one who had some fit problems.

Where is the best place to find these? I want to plate the KX5 in my near future.

Is this one the only choice? Has there been an update to fix the fitment issues? Also, what choices are there for head light assemblies?

Thanks again,

Rich.

I'm gonna hold out for AJ's (Service Honda) ignition kit + lighting coil hes coming out with.

As for light, I'm going to go with a 8" Baja Designs or something of that nature. I might end up with the HID if i have the money.

I have 2, and like very well, the E- Line coils.  I have one on my 04 dual- sport K5.  I will have to wait for AJ's coil for the 08 K5AF.
E- Line will not work with AJ's pipe.  The second one I will run on the 01 Super Moto bike I am building.

E-Line no longer makes the lighting set-up for the KX 500.

Running into the same issues here too with not a lot of options for lighting my KX500. Has anybody ran the 75W moose coil?

I was wondering about that Moose 75w coil. I wonder if thats enough for a headlight, tail and brake. Not to mention turns are mandatory here.
