Since I decided to put my '89 500 in mothballs for a while, I've been getting my '02 250 ready to ride.  One of the mandatory mods for me is to lower the bike.  I ride woods only and I have short legs.... 30' inseam.  I lowered my 500 with a set of suspension links.  So I was looking things over and had a EUREKA moment.

The stock links from my 500 are the perfect length to lower the rear of the 250 by about 2 inches!  They are 2mm to wide, so that needs to be dealt with but the ride height is now MUCH  better suited for my style.

Do you have any pics of the installation?

You'll need to adjust your suspension accordingly.  Would be nice to find a "bolt-on" lowering device for 125/250's.  I see that question asked alot.

I used a spring off of a KTM to lower mine 2". It works a treat and is much cheaper it only cost ?10 from ebay.

Sorry, no pics.  But it's about a 5 minute job with the bike sitting on a 5 gallon bucket. 

I went this route because I already had the links on the shelf.  I bet you can grab a set on Ebay for next to nothing.

Yeah..... I'm a cheap azz.

As for adjusting the suspension.... the rear seems OK.  But the forks are sort of harsh.  I have yet to work on them.

Keep in mind that I'm old and slow and I don't need perfect suspension settings.

GWCRIM what links did you use to lower your 500?  Were they aftermarket or something you made yourself?

I picked up some "home made" links on Ebay a few years back.  Just a lucky find.

Actually I got one set to lower, one set to REALLY lower, and  a set from a 250 that would raise the rear.
