94 PWK V923 jetting KX500
« on: November 02, 2014, 04:56:59 AM »
First off, yes I've seen the jetting chart.

Bike is stock other than a Gnarly desert pipe. Bike is new to me, when riding WO throttle I can hear detonation but bike seems to run very well.

Sea level riding
32-1
94 PWK V923 stock carb
#7 slide
N82R needle clip in 1st position at top
150 main jet
52 slow jet
air screw was 1.5 turns out

The main jet seems super lean too me like it was setup for high alt riding based on the jetting chart

Any thoughs? I'm planning on getting a 168 jet and trying that with the needle in different positions

55 pilot
168 main
3rd clip on the needle
1.5 turns
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

thanks for the quick reply, I updated the slow jet number above, had to find a small enough screw driver to get it out, it was a 52

I'll get a 168/55 and give it a try.

Unless you have other problems I'm sure you will be happier..

Finally got to go for a spin.

First off bike runs like crazy now, no more detonation up top.

The bottom end feels good.

Sometimes, not often, the mid range seems to load up just before the powerband hits. Should I adjust the needle down one clip or change the slow jet? Or?

Over all I'm super happy and cant wait to get some more time on this beast.

Pro Circuit actually recommends the needle in the 2nd position but I use the 3rd.
You might try it but... Run your throttle chops to see where she is at.
