Clutch Bearing
« on: June 07, 2003, 03:30:27 PM »
Anyone know how to change the bearings on the clutch pivot shaft.  This is the shaft that the clutch cable attaches to.  Is there a special tool to pull out the bearings???  Thanks!!!

I have changed the upper bearing. I scrapped it and managed to get all the needles out with the help of a magnet. (Put some paper or a cloth in the hole before you start). I didn't change the lower one though. They are both the same size. I think you have to dismount the engine to do it. You can not extract it unless there is a special tool which does the job - as you mentioned. Maybe someone else knows?

The problem is that both the upper and lower bearings have nothing but the race and carriage left...no needles at all.  So I need to change both.  I'm sure I could make a tool to do it but I need to know what it should look like.
