Last Ride of the Season
« on: November 12, 2006, 02:52:45 PM »
Winter is finally starting here in Kamloops.  Got my last ride in today, just before it started snowing in earnest.  What a blast!! Prime conditions, 3 deg C, snowing lightly, an inch of fresh snow and the ground was barely frozen, just soft enough to get some traction.  Slippin and sliding and diggin it!  Nothing like blasting fresh tracks down a whooped-out snow covered trail to make you smile! What!  Your going to end your riding season because of a little snow!?  :-o  Throw some studs in some tires and your golden  :-D (that is until there's several feet of that white stuff, then you need to find a good hard packed snowmobile trail and you back in business!  8-) )
Sorry to hear your getting that white stuff already though, I know I'm dreading the thought of it coming here soon in my neck of the woods.

Cam, I think I am finished for the season also. There was about three inches of snow yesterday on the trails.  Michigan got early snow on Oct 12 this year. The trails seem to retain the snow because of the tree cover, everywhere else there is no snow.  I am planning on waxing the skis this week and hopefully will be skiing by Thanksgiving, which is November 23 and a Holiday here in the states.  Someday I'll stop by Whistler and try the Canadian Rockies.
Spring is here and the Mighty 500 wants to ride.

Almost everyone out there had studs (except me). Didn't really need them - enough traction. I could ride a few weeks longer but the ski hill is finally getting some snow so it's time to switch sports for the winter. KX maintenance time too. The best snow riding is in the spring anyway.   Jonnyspeed if you ever make it to Whistler give me a call, I'm only 4 hours from there. Ebers, I used to ride the snowmobile trails when I was a kid.  Toss in a few studs and wait until the trail are good and frozen.. Big fun! Cam.

Awesome! I sure hope we get snow this year. I'm tired of these hot days. It was 81 degrees on Saturday and should be in the 70s today. I've already winterized my bikes due to the cold(er) weather we had previously in the mid 20's-30's. I'd love to purchase a snow mobile.. But get stuck with Jet Ski's instead.. :)

Gowen, speaking of Jet Skis, did you see that Kawasaki has a 250 hp jet ski ?  If that thing is as fast as I think it might be, I may have to get one. It may be the KX500 of the water !
Snowmobile riding in Michigan has not been that great the last few years, due to not much snow, but we are not that far from Canada.
Luckily the ski resorts have snowmaking and snowgroomers so all we need is cold temps.
