Smash and Grab
« on: August 26, 2006, 10:57:37 AM »
Tuesday night a motorcyle shop in Geraldine, a small South Canterbury town, was targeted in a daring smash and grab style robbery in which two Suzuki GSX road bikes and a 2002 Kawasaki KX500 worth $8000 was taken when the front plate glass window was smashed and the bikes loaded into a van, trailer or ute. This was front page headlines of our local rag the other day. Twas a nice kx with only 20 hours on it and 1 owner. I doutb weather it will show up as a complete bike again but there could be some cheap parts floating around. One less kx500 in the world today. Puts the value of our ones up just a little more.

I work for a kawi dealer, and the owner is a personall friend. He got ripped off severall times in the 80's before he smartened up and placed 1 1/4" cast pipe bars acrsoss all the windows. When he would get ripped, it was ALWAYS KX's (obviously). I am surpriesd the above thieves ripped street bikes, thats risky (unless they are strictly going to pimp the stolen bikes as parts. Dealers have good insurance, but it's so aggravating.

It would be cool if they tried something stupid and loose their big balls trying to ride the KX! he he!

Anyone that steels your bike should be drawn and quartered! I keep mine locked up, alarmed behind posted no trespassing signs and I keep multiple loaded guns around! I live in Texas and a bunch of the laws still are from the 1800 and 1900's! If your property is posted and someone is dumb enough to come onto your property you can shoot them! Nothing makes my blood boil more than someone steeling my toys!

It wouldn't be the first K5 that bit the hand that stole it. I seem to recall a member here recovered his after "someone" got a broken collarbone from his hostage.
