KX500 and lighting (super newb question)

Please try not to kill me as i am new to the KX500 world. I have an 88, dies it have a lighting coil to run a 65 watt headlight and if not is there a places i can by one? I do NOT want to go the $400 Eline route if at all possible.

Welcome to KXForums Ride, no problem with the newb question. We've discussed this alot, and if you want facts from users, try the search button. Aside from that, your KX does not have a lighting coil.

You are going to have to upgrade to the 90-04 KX500 complete ignition to upgrade to a lighting coil. You might score off Ebay. Keep your eyes open.

Again, do a search and read what people with your bikes have discussed.
