KX500 found a good home-Mine!
« on: August 10, 2006, 06:03:22 PM »
I am stoked! Things happened real quick and in 2 days I sold the old Maico and picked up a 2000 K5. My first. The only bummer is it`s too d**n hot to ride here, gotta wait a month or two. 1st ride is gonna be sweet for sure.

Sweet Ride!

What was your Maico?

I know about the heat, I just haven't been able to get motivated at all this summer! Even the street has been unbearable this year! I have just been waiting around for fall for things to cool down a bit!

I couldn't agree more. Including the street comment. I;ve only been riding @ night after it cools down, but found that was a bad idea now. :-( I'm also hoping to be back in the fall.

The Maico was an 83 490 that I was gonna restore. But I do dezert riding, so after taking the 490 out there it didn`t take long to figure out that an air cooled bike isn`t going to cut it. I do love the way the Maico handled, better than an 03 CRF450 I had last year. Since I have an issue with hard to get parts, the KX was the way to go. Plus disk brakes again! I sure did miss good brakes.

The heat from the street was cooking the bottom of my arms more than the sun on the top of my arms when I went parts chasing on the street bike yesterday.  At 107 in the day and 90 + at night it's TOOOO HOT.  Come on fall temps.

Thanks for the good words!

The seat cover is by Factory Effex. And that is definitely a State of Calfusion green sticker on the fork. I had a red sticker bike once, and don`t want another. The worst thing I saw a ranger do was kick a couple of red sticker bikes out of Coral Canyon once, but who wants to deal with any that when you gotta ride.
