Alan, what would you compare your YZ490 to your KX? I'm very curious, I've seen them float around here and I've hessitated to pick'em up because I have no history on them.

I have a couple of short video clips of me and my riding buddy in a desert drag with the KX5 VS the YZ490  I will see if I can dig them up and post them in the gallery! :-D :-D

the KX5 is much more a civilised machine compared to the 490. Which is why the YZ had so many changes over its much shorter lifespan. The kx remained unchanged largley for 13 years. Why change a good design that works. Kawasaki hadA WINNER  with this model. Yamaha was a flash in the pan by comparison.

Did you guys ever have the SC500? I older guy here had one thay he did up to look better than factory. Like Craigs ITs.

Cheers JAD777 for the link just discovered my 1990 500 came out with a 19 inch wheel but mine is shoed with an 18 inch rear - will keep it that way, mine walked all over my mates 94 with a 19 inch when he came up beside for a drag and i herd his throttle twist, then he complained that i flicked to many stones up at him  8-).
