Needle jet
« on: April 10, 2006, 03:49:22 AM »
hi,the needle in my bike is N85D.Is that thicker or thinner than the original because my k5 uses a lot of fuel at low rpm.Riding at high or low rpm,the consumption stays the same. So,if someone knows an answer, let me know.
Thanks,
Wim

Zert,
Stock is an N85M which is leaner that yours, hence it has a larger diameter. Your needle is thinner than stock. The D would make it pretty rich in the midrange 1/4-1/2 throttle. Cam.

okay, today i Re-discovered my mean green thing. It was awesome!!! :-D.I've got him since october but something was wrong. He had a lot of power(of course, its a 500 :-))but it consumpts lots of fuel and smoked like hell.So friday i decided to take him apart because the bolt for oil draining was broken and i had a leaking gasket between the cylinder and the engine. While i was busy,i decided to clean the powervalves and checking the piston. That last item was in very good shape, but the valves needed a good checkup(special thanks to the autor of top end rebuild!).The previous owner has put the valves back with a wrong timing, there was always one exhaustport open and the upper one did'n open much.So today, after work i went to the welder for my block and put everything back together. After a few houres of work, the test moment was there. It was raining(typical belgium weather) but i did not care. After 5 times kicking, there was live.A little smoke but very good trottle respons and powerwheelies in fourth(gearing 15/42)!To make the story shorter,it was a big improvement and they may be old,but they still kicks butt :-D

Oops! Arnax is right. N82M is stock. Hope I didn't mislead you. Cam.
