i have a base gasket ?
« on: March 08, 2006, 06:24:10 AM »
i am going to soon freshen up my top end and was wondering if my kx5 would handle the compression of no base gasket?, you see we have this stuff "not sure what it is" that we use on snowmobiles
it is like glue but makes a gasket. i was just wondering if anybody has ever took out there base and ran a thinner one or not one at all?
do you think it will make the squish to tight?

You need to be careful and talk with an engine builder. The thickness of the base gasket is a determining factor for the port timing. You can change the head gasket to have more or less compression if thats what your trying to do.
