Another one from Canada
« on: January 29, 2006, 03:04:57 PM »
Hello all!

I've been reading a lot on this forum lately as I was contemplating getting a KX5. Finally got one, an 03 in pretty good condition.

Other than that, I'm on the older side (40), haven't rode an MX bike in 25 years, so I'll be going at a veteran novice pace for a start. Gotta learn throttle control ;) Can't wait to putter around with my sons (jr50 and jr80).

Anyway I won't ride until spring, it's way too cold out there (-15 Celsius), that will give me time to perform a few of the must have mods listed on this site. My mechanical abilities being limited, I'll be following religiously all the great how-to guides you guys have been putting together  :)

Welcome! Your bike looks great against the snowy backdrop!

Let me know if you would like an album in the gallery section?

Welcome to the KX500 world !  I hope you like speed. Your bike looks nice and clean, hopefully that will change when the weather warms up.   John

Hey Arnax welcome aboard man. I'm from the east coast of Canada, good old newbie boy! I'm sure you are familiar with Newfoundlandlers being up your way ;)

The bike looks very very hot man! I think the 93 KX250 fender would finish that look.  I like the silver frame over the green also.  I just picked up a 2001 myslef.  Love those graphics, are they OEM? I'd be interested in getting them for mine.

Hey 2001KX5, the joke around here is we are the second largest Newfie town in Canada ;) Might change though, since the economy in the Maritimes is getting better quite a few people are considering going back east.
Graphics are Factory Effex, I don't think they are OEM but some kind of tank/shroud kit.
I agree a '93 250 rear fender would look nice, but right now the top of my list is reed spacer, dual stage reeds, new tires, new sprockets/chain, frame guards, skid plate and maybe Gnarly pipe if budget (read wife) allows.

Looks like you found a solution to your cylinder issue, great for you. Your bike will rip :)
