I'm pretty lucky. I have one of the best riding areas in Canada 15 minutes away and I only work 4 days a week. That being said I still don't get to ride as much as I'd like. We have quite seasonal weather with fair temperature variation. Winter we get snow so I concentrate on skiing with the family Dec to March. During April and early May I generally work 7 days a week so I end up starting the riding year about June. By mid-July it is usually 90-100F most days, so we head to the lake until the end of August. September and October is prime riding. Generally get snow again by the end of October. Being over 40 I don't have too many riding buddies in town, but my friends drive down about 400 miles (from my old home town) to meet me here for 3-day weekend hero rides. They come for the terrain. On days that I'm not riding with my wife and kids (we all have bikes) I generally go out to my favorite area and invite myself along with one of the many groups out riding. Usually meet lots of nice people this way and get some good rides in. Lots of good riders live in the area. For example on one ride, three of the guys had #1's on their bikes which I though was a touch odd. Found out part way through the ride that they were the current Canadian Enduro, Cross-country and Ice racing champions. It was a blast to ride full out like that. Takes me back to the glory days, but much of the time I am out riding with the kids wearing out 1st gear. But it's worth it. This year was a poor one for me in terms of riding. I started my 12 year rebuildin January but worked too much and didn't get it together until May. Got 2 rides in then tore my ACL and CCL wakeboarding and did nothing but hobble and rehab all summer. Knee is holding up OK for skiing and the bike is prepped, so come this May look out!!! Cam.
